Suggested itinerary for parents of 1-5 year olds

If you have small children between the ages of 1-5 then here are some suggestions of what’s happening at the various encampments that might be suitable for your family. Please note that the joust times have been included so you can add one in at whichever time suits you and your family – you don’t have to go to all four each day!  There are many, many more displays, workshops and shows all around the festival site, please refer to the main programme you can purchase for a gold coin donation at the Sponsors Village Downtown Abbey before you reach the main gates for more information and schedules.

SATURDAY ITINERARY FOR 1-5 YEAR OLDS

This itinerary will suit you and your family if your little one enjoys dancing, getting hands on with turban tying, and seeing some real life Viking games!

9:45 – 10:15   Grande Parade at Castle Arena – a must see for all visitors to the Abbey Medieval Festival and always full of colour and pageantry.

10:30  – 11:00 Make your way to the Village Green to watch Domino the Jester!

11:00 – 12:00 Browse and shop in the markets, walk through and meet some of the brave Knights, Vikings, Ladies and Gypies, and you might even see some of the lovely Woodland Fairies!

12:15 – 12:45 Try your hand at Turban tying with Karvan-Saray in the Village Green.

12:45 – 1:15 Find a a place to sit, relax, enjoy some lunch and soak up the atmosphere. Try to see how many Vikings or Medieval Knights you can spot this time!

1:15 – 1:45 – Let the kids burn off some energy in the Village Green with the Squire Games!

1:45 – 2:15 – Grab a drink and a sweet snack, say some churros for afternoon tea!

2:15 – 2:45- Josh Croall Workshop, come and learn a thing or 2 and have some fun in the Village Green

2:45 – 3.15 Learn to dance like a Gypsy with the Shuvani Gypsies! Kids of all ages love this workshop as it is full of energy, colour and fun!

 3:15 – 3:45 – Come and see some real life Viking Games at the Village Green.

SUNDAY ITINERARY FOR 1-5yr OLDS

This itinerary will suit you and your family if your little ones love animals, enjoy watching the Jousting and having their photo taken!

9:30-10:15 – Catch the Grande Parade at the Castle Arena if you missed it yesterday, or loved it so much to watch it again!

10:15–10:45 – Horses Through The Ages at the Joust Arena.

10:45 – 11:15 – Now catch the 1st Joust for the day!

11:15 – 12:00 – Grab some lunch and eat while your watching the Birds of Prey show. Fun, informative and enthralling for all ages.

12:00- 12:30 – Grab something delicious for lunch then head over to the Shuvani Romani camp for your next activity.

12:30 – 1:00 – Gypsie Peg Doll Making workshop with Shuvani Gypsies.

1:00- 2:00 – Time to explore the grounds and market stalls. There’s plenty to see and do for young and old alike. The little ones will love seeing the amazing costumes and the wandering performances and street theatre on show. Why not grab some props and get your photo taken at our Medieval Photobooth?! Or perhaps watch another Joust? Soak up the atmosphere that is the Medieval Festival while your little ones stare in wonderment at the colour, fun and energy of the wonderful people here!
