Plan your Abbey Festival Day with an itinerary for teens (our pleasure!!)

Are you coming to the Abbey Medieval Festival this year with teenagers (13-17 year olds)? Never fear – we’ve designed a program with your teens in mind! There’s something here to please every teen, no matter their taste. You can stick with the itinerary as is, or you can pick and choose which events interest you most. Have fun!!


From the Grande Parade, cannon, turban tying to Fencing, music, and finally, shopping, this is a great day out for all young adults.

9:45 – 10:15   Grande Parade at Castle Arena – a must for everyone visiting the Abbey Medieval Festival!

10:15 – 10.45  Abbey Medieval Festival House Troupe – (Step Up – Medieval style!)

10:45 – 11:30 – Make your way down the Prima Spada School of Fence for a beginners Fencing course!

11:45 – 12:15 Cannons! With Historia Germanica in the Castle Arena

12:15 – 12:45 Learn how to do Turban Tying with Karvan-Saray at the Village Green.

12:45 – 1:30 Templars and OTH – Skill At Arms!

1:30  – 2:15  Grab some food and watch the Joust!

2:15 – 3.00  Birds of Prey show,  not to be missed.

3.15 – 3:45  Varangian Battle Training at The Commons.

3:45  – Explore all that the Festival has to offer. The Markets, the roaming performers, the camps, and the delicious food!



Our Sunday itinerary for teens is slightly different, with Turkish oil wrestling, So You Think You Can Medieval Dance show, shopping, and a Dark Ages Field Battle. What teen wouldn’t love a fun-packed day like this?

9:30 – 10:15 – Even if you watched this yesterday, catch the Grande Parade again today!

10:15 – 11:15 – Make your way through the Festival grounds, taking in all the colour and costumes, then watch the 1st Joust of the day at 10:45

11:15 – 12:00 Dark Ages Field Battle in the Castle Arena.

12:00 – 12:45 While you here, grab some lunch and stay for the Archery Competition.

1:00 – 2:00 Turkish Oil Wrestling anyone?!

2:00- 2:45 Browse the markets, grab some delicious afternoon tea, and watch all the colourful and interesting characters roaming around.

2:45 – 3:15 ‘So You Think You Can Medieval Dance’ with Companie of the Phoenix

3:15   Watch the last Joust for 2016 or catch a cooking demo, or simply walk through the encampments and you might even learn a thing or 2!
