Visit the Abbey Medieval Festival in Queensland’s Moreton Bay region – experience our medieval story.
The Abbey Medieval Festival will transport you to a place where history and fantasy merge into a breath taking world. The festival is the Abbey Museum’s premier event, held in South East Queensland’s Moreton Bay and transforms our region into a medieval wonderland every July. Come for the exquisite detail of our authentic re-enactment camps and cheer the jousting and falconry. Partake of the sizzling meats and fine mead, and leave with the taste of history on your lips and your appetite for an authentic historical and personal experience satisfied. The attractions at the Abbey Medieval Festival beguile young and old, and won’t cost a king’s ransom.
Consume an historical experience at the Abbey Medieval Festival in 2017 (…or let it consume you!)
Medieval times inspire the fantasy and fiction of ‘what could have been’ for many of us! The Abbey Medieval Festival re-enactors offer you unique and authentic experiences of several medieval periods both familiar and exotic. We invite and encourage you to co-create your own personal experience. Choose between Viking raiders and traders, Middle-Eastern warriors and nomads, or nobles and peasants from the great European households. Could your family have been those Vikings? Why do you find those Nomads so appealing? For one weekend, re-live the honour of the Knight you might have been…..come and be that Knight at the Abbey Medieval Festival this July.
Be that Knight at the Abbey Medieval Festival 2017!
What our visitors say…..
“First time visiting the Festival and we’ll definitely be coming back next year. There seemed to be a lot of thought and planning put into the schedules, the entertainment, and the general layout of the event, and it was very impressively run. The re-enactors and volunteers were all extremely helpful and willing to share their knowledge.”
“I love interacting with the re-enactors and learning skills such as using a lucet, viking braiding etc, so more workshops can only be a good thing 🙂 Also watching the battles and just immersing myself in times past, dressing in costume of course adds to the fun! , I love Birds of Prey, any opportunity to have my pic taken holding one is fantastic So thank you to all the organisors, volunteers and re-enactors for another great Tournament experience. xoxoxo”
“I loved it so much i will force my future kids to go there. In addition i loved the jousts immensely that i think it would be a splendid idea that there should be monthly jousts.”
“Great atmosphere. It was great for the kids to be able to try on the armour, ride the wooden horse etc. Jousting was fun.”
